The St. John’s Hospital & Fertility Centre on Thursday donated ambulance to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) as part of its cooperate social responsibility.
The Chief Executive Officer of St. John’s Hospital & Fertility Centre, Maame Yaa Afriyie says the gesture is to support government’s effort in ensuring quality health service for the people of Ghana and help GIS in order to run its clinic effectively when it comes to referrals.
Mrs. Afriyie says the Immigration Service deals with many people on day to day basis and the health of such people must not been taken for granted.
She observed that the ambulance will go a long way to support health care delivery in the service and the country as a whole adding that the gesture will be replicate to other institutions and agencies when given the opportunity.
Receiving the ambulance on behalf GIS, Interior Minister Ambrose Dery said it was with a deep sense of humility and gratitude that he was accepting the donation. According to the minister, the support to the hospital means supporting the poor and the needy people and called other corporate organisations to emulate what the hospital has done.
Mr. Dery who handed over the key of the ambulance to the Controller-General of GIS, Kwame Asuah Takyi, urged him and management to use the ambulance for the purpose for which the donation was made.
The donation was made on the sideline of two days conference of the Regional Commanders is on the theme; Responding to contemporary Border and Internal Security threats: The role of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) is an opportunity for GIS to take stock of institutional activities of the year and assess achievements and short comings.
St John’s Hospital & Fertility Centre is a newly established modern facility providing quality primary health care to improve health outcomes and status of everyone for a healthy community.
