Six soldiers, said to be part of a plot to take down the Presidency, have been slapped with charges of possession of explosives and ammunitions without lawful excuse.
The six serving soldiers on Monday were put before the Kaneshie District Court in Accra.

They have been identified as Seidu Abubakar, Lance Corporal Ali Solomon, Albert Baba Ibrahim, Godwin Nii Ankrah, Sylvester Kpebu and WO2 Esther.
A senior military officer, Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli and Gershun Akpa, a civilian employee of the Armed Forces were also on Friday charged for their role in an “elaborate plot targeted at the Presidency.”

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, earlier disclosed some military personnel had been picked up in connection with the alleged coup plot following the retrieval of several arms, explosive devices and ammunitions from locations in Accra and Kpone-Bawaleshie at Dodowa.
According to the Minister, the arrest formed part of an in-depth investigation into the attempt by a group of people to take over the reins of government.
