Pupils and teachers at Kaneshie North Compound Basic School in the Greater Accra region live in fear as the school’s roof is in a very bad state.
The pupils study under the torn roofing sheet, a situation which is endangering their lives.
Parents, as expected, are worried about the state of the school.
A visit by Adom Kasie to the school revealed that anytime it rains, the school is forced to shutdown due to the bad state of the roof.
In an interview with Adom FM’s reporter Kodwo Mensah Aboroampa, the School Management Committee (SMC) chairman, Albert Annan, said all efforts to get authorities to address the challenge have proven futile as parents continue to live in fear.
He said a number of letters have been written to the Metro Directorate of Education but they have yielded no positive results.
Mr Annan recounted how the school performed excellently during competitions but the state of the school is now compelling parents to send their wards to near and far schools irrespective of the performance of those schools.
The SMC chairman is, thus, calling on the Ghana Education Service to work hand in hand with the Parent Teacher Association and SMC to address challenges facing the school to ensure quality basic education.
