Residents of Jilik and adjourning communities in Bunkpurugu Yunyoo district of the Northern region now have water after years of struggling to get portable water.
The residents have constantly lived in miserable, unfortunate and humiliating conditions.
With no electricity to depend on, hygienic water to drink, schools to educate their wards and clinic to treat farmers who are mostly bitten by snakes, living in the area makes life unbearable.
According to the residents, parents and children have to walk about five miles to access unhygienic water to fill their pots at home.
“At the time we don’t have water we used to fetch water in dam where animals drink before us because we have no option. Our children keep falling sick over bad water” one resident said.
It is for this reason that Worldvision organization has constructed and handed over a borehole to the people of Jilik and other surrounding communities.
The Northern Regional Operations Manager, Timothy Amang-bey Akanpabadai, said when they heard about the life threatening conditions at Jilik, they could not believe it and wanted to verify it by visiting the place.
