Hundreds, including former President Jerry John Rawlings and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah on Tuesday joined Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan to commission an astroturf project at the Accra Academy Senior school campus.
The former President supported the cutting of the tape to unveil the stadium and later performed a ceremonial kickoff for a match organized to outdoor the $200,000 fenced facility complete with floodlights.
Present were the Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah who represented the President and a host of former footballers and various artistes.
Gyan was presented with a citation by his alma mater Accra Academy as well as the highest award of the school, the Order of Platinum of the School.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah praised the country’s record scorer for his spirit of volunteerism.
