Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has arrived in Accra for a three day state visit following an invitation from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Together with a Danish business delegation, Queen Margrethe was welcomed on Wednesday by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The state visit is to emphasise and consolidate the long-standing and well-established relationship between Ghana and Denmark, while at the same time marking the gradual transition from aid to trade.
The Queen came along with representatives of Danish companies and business organisations as part of moves to strengthen long-existing trade and commercial ties between Ghana and Denmark.
This is the queen’s 53rd state visit and her first to West Africa.
She is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Mr Anders Samuelsen, and the Minister for Environment and Food for Denmark, Mr Esben Lunde Larsen.
