Two people including a police man sustained injuries when the police vehicle carrying volley ball team collided with a Kia vehicle Sunday.
According to reports, the Kia vehicle with registration number GR 2531-10 veered off the road when trying to overtake a vehicle in front, hit the police car and somersaulted several times.
This unfortunate incident happened around 1:30 pm at Akotsi Junction on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway in the Central region.
The 30 police officers were returning to Accra from Takoradi after playing volley ball match when the accident occurred.
A resident in the area, Sulemana Abubakar who rushed to the scene in an interview with Adom News said the mate in the Kia vehicle sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Winneba Trauma Hospital.
Ojobi district Police Commander, ASP Osei Foffie who confirmed this incident to Adom News said the police man who sustained injury was rushed to the Police hospital in Accra.
He noted that, they have initiated investigations into what may have caused the near-fatal crash.
ASP Foffie added that they have tolled the Kia vehicle to the Ojobi police station and the police car has also been towed to the Police headquarters for further action.
