One person is reported dead in a fatal accident that occured at Gomoa Okyereko junction on the main Accra-Winneba highway in the Central region on Sunday morning.
This was after a VW Golf car with registration number GT 1020-C run into two sprinter buses with registration numbers AS 7393-16 and GG 2006-16.
The deceased is reported to be a middle-aged woman. Two others are in coma and other 19 passengers sustained various degrees of injuries.
Winneba MTTD Commander, ASP Charles Obiri in an interview with Adom News’ Kofi Adjei said the accident was caused by WV Golf driver identified as Seth Mensah.
He explained that, Seth was heading towards Accra but in an attempt to overtake the one Benz Sprinter bus crashed into the second splinter bus which was heading towards Winneba.
ASP Obiri said the deceased was sitting in front of the sprinter bus with registration number AS 7393-16. The driver of the same bus is in critical condition.
The WV Golf driver, he added, also landed in the ditch and is also in critical condition at the Winneba government hospital.
Meanwhile, one of the drivers, Edward Dickson in an interview thanked God for his life.
He explained that he was heading to Winneba and the Golf driver on the opposite side in an attempt to overtake the vehicle in front of him but veered off the road and crashed into his car.
Mr. Dickson who is the driver of the GG 2006-16 sprinter bus said three other people who were also passengers in the bus also sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Winneba government hospital.
“I’m fortunate to be alive because I also veered off the road and landed in a ditch so I’m counting my loss now” he bemoaned.
