The widow of late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama has been presented with a cheque of GHC27, 770 which was raised by some people who were touched by his sad death.
Mrs Barbara Mahama accompanied by her father-in-law Capt (rtd) Dennis Adam Mahama were presented with the check after a short ceremony at the office of the Chief of Defence Staff on Friday.
The funds were raised through Gofundme.com an initiative of Agbeko Kumordzie as part of a fund raising campaign organised on behalf of the family.
Gofundme.com was launched after the sad passing of Major Mahama in a bid to raise money to support the bereaved family.
The posthumous Major was murdered on May 29 by some youth of Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region on suspicion that he was an armed robber.
The incident reportedly happened after a snail seller spotted a pistol on him when he was on his routine morning jogging.
When news emerged that they had killed an army officer, a lot of Ghanaians were enraged after a video emerged on social media showing how Major Mahama was killed.

The Gofundme.com initiative was one of many attempts by private individuals who went out of their own way to raise funds to help the family as their way of sympathising with their loss.
Due to the activities of scammers, the bereaved family approved a few banks to take donations from friends and sympathisers which included Capital Bank, United Merchant Bank (UMB), Fidelity bank as well as Gofundme.com.
Gofundme.com opened an account while appealing to people who were touched by the sad happening and want to reach out to the family to show their love by donating their widow’s mite to an account.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Mr Kumordzie thanked all those who supported his idea and duly contributed to ease the pain of the widow and the two children the late Major left behind.
“First, let me thank the following individuals who encouraged me to set up the Go fund me. Eugene Kwabena Ackah, Kojo Asarr Jnr, Horatio Sam-Aggrey and Yaw Frempong.
“Guys l thank you very much for your behind support. A big thanks to Elikem Fiamavle one of the finest Lt colonels in the army and Getty Kunde-Kwallinjam who worked diligently in the background,” the post read.
