The chairperson of Ghana Union in Koln, Rita Ashong Zaun on behalf of the union has donated assorted items for the children of the Orthopaedic Training Centre at Nsawam – Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region.
Mrs. Ashong during the visit to the centre with her husband and two children commended the hospital staff for doing a good job and encouraged them to do more to ensure quality healthcare for the country.
“This has been an eye-opener for me and so the group has decided to assist the centre following a request by the director of the training centre.”
The Director of the centre Elizabeth Newman used the opportunity to thank the Ghana Union Koln for her kind gesture, especially in the area of providing such items
The Orthopaedic Training Centre (OTC) was established by the Divine Word Missionaries in 1961 as rehabilitation for the physically challenged in Ghana and other countries.
The Centre trains patients on how to use their orthopaedic appliances and train young people on how to manufacture all the appliances needed by the physically challenged including leg braces, shoes, artificial limbs, splints and crutches.
