The national celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr in 2025 took place at Independence Square in Accra on Monday, March 31.
The event was led by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, who opened the ceremony with prayers.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast from dawn until sunset. This occasion is a time for official receptions and private gatherings, where friends greet one another and exchange gifts.

President John Dramani Mahama urged the residents of Bawku in the Upper East Region to embrace peace as they celebrate Ramadan.
He emphasized that this holy month is a time for unity and reconciliation.
Addressing the ongoing tensions in Bawku, the President appealed to all factions to set aside their differences and work together toward lasting peace.

“Finally, as we celebrate this Ramadan, I want to urge my brothers and sisters in Bawku to give peace a chance. Ramadan is a period for togetherness,” he stated.
Present at this year’s festival were several dignitaries, including the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama; the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim; the Minister for Labour, Hon. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo; the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo; the Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Rita Odoley Sowah; and ACP flagbearer, Dr. Hassan Ayariga, among others.
