Fire has gutted parts of the Tamale Central Market in the Northern regional Sunday.
The fire, which started at about 7:00 am from one shop with fire crackers spread to other shops and destroyed items running into millions of Ghana cedis.
Some market women who spoke to Adom News’ Northern Regional correspondent, Illiasu Abdul Rauf blamed a welder for the inferno.
But efforts by them to douse the fire proved futile so they caused the fire service for assistance.
Also, The Northern Regional Fire Service Spokesperson, OD1 Opoku Aikins said but for their swift intervention, the entire market would have been affected.
He said they have been able to douse the fire and have began investigation to know the cause of fire.
