Over nine hundred and thirty seven (937) unemployed diploma nurses spent the night at the Ministry of Health (MoH) compound in Accra as part of their demonstration demanding that they should be posted.
The group on Monday 24 April said since members completed their national service in August 2016, they have remained jobless.
It described government’s inability to employ the nurses as “inhuman and heartless”.
The coalition said it had written five petitions to the MoH on the matter, but all had proved
futile. They have threatened to sleep at the Ministry until they are posted to begin work in the various health facilities across the country.
The nurses said they have been given pin numbers which is the license for them to practice as nurses.
Spokesperson of the group, said on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ that the group
would march to the President and lay their grievances before him.
