The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) blood bank has been hit with blood shortage, affecting its capacity to save the lives of people who need blood.
Dr. Alhaji Zebrim Adams of the blood bank of TTH revealed this when MTN collaborated with the management of Tamale Teaching Hospital to donate blood to the facility.

According to him, the shortage can be attributed to the high rate of accidents and robbery cases in which people are shot and others sustaining various injuries.
According to him, the hospital needs a minimum of 400 pint of blood, monthly to for its operations.
Adom News gathers that, the facility depends on voluntary donations of blood to stock its blood bank.
According to Dr. Adams, the fear in people makes it difficult for them to donate blood.
He has, therefore given the assurance that, blood donation is a very healthy exercise as the donor is at less risk of heart attack and it also helps to burn calories.
He added that, anybody between the ages of 18-60 who is healthy can donate blood.
Meanwhile, MTN in collaboration with management of the TTH have carried out a blood donation exercise which is expected to generate some 400 pints of blood to stock the blood bank of the facility.
The area sales manager of the telecommunication giant, Kwesi Osei, indicated that the activity forms part of MTN’s Cooperate Social Responsibility.
He said for the past seven years, 17 February has been set aside by the company to donate blood for selected hospitals across the country.
Kwesi Osei appealed to the general public to endeavor to donate blood as it will go a long way to save lives.
