Ghana’s U-23 team, Black Meteors have left the country for Egypt for this year’s Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.
The technical team, management, and players traveled Monday afternoon for the tournament which begins on November 8.
GFA boss Kurt Okraku and some members of the Executive Council were at the Kotoka International Airport to see off the team.
“It’s been sixteen years since we qualified to the Olympics and you have about three or four games away from a ticket to the Olympics. We believe you can do it so believe in yourselves and do it for Ghana,” said the GFA President.
The Black Meteors have been drawn in group A alongside hosts Egypt, debutantes Cameroon and Mali.
Ghana will open their campaign against Cameroon on the opening day before facing Egypt and Mali on 11 and 14 November respectively.
The best three teams will qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
