President Nana Akufo-Addo on Friday, January 3, 2025 delivered his final State of the Nation Address to the eighth Parliament, marking the end of his second term in office.

He highlighted the achievements of his administration over the past eight years in various sectors.

Notably, Akufo-Addo touched on the remarkable improvements in WASSCE attributing the success to the free SHS policy.

He pointed out that since the first cohort of Free SHS students sat for the WASSCE in 2020, Ghana has consistently recorded over 50% of candidates scoring A1–C6 in all four core subjects.

The address precedes the handing over of power and the swearing-in of President-elect, John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, January 7.

The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Second Lady Samira Bawumia, and Former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, Members of the diplomatic corps and others were also present.
