The host of Adom FM’s flagship morning show ‘Dwaso Nsɛm’ Captain Smart is leading a demonstration dubbed ‘Ye gye yen sika’ to raise awareness about the high levels of corruption in Ghana Friday.
Tens of thousands of protestors are converging at the Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle to march towards the Farrisco Traffic Light, through to TUC before arriving at the offices of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and present a petition demanding for the retrieval of over $100 billion that have allegedly gone into the private pockets of past public officials unlawfully.
Participants who are clad in red and black weilding placards calling for investigation and prosecution of persons alleged to have been involved in corrupt acts in various reports especially, the Auditor General’s reports, which were dissected on the firy “Fabewoso” segment of Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM.
They include Ghanaians from all walks of life, representatives of anti-corruption bodies, international development partners, pressure groups, media houses and many more who believe the looters of state coffers must be brought to book.
“Corruption has taken over this country; from the Presidency to down to the Labourer. Virtually everybody in this country thinks that corruption is now normal,” said Captain Smart.
Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Police Command has given clearance for today’s peaceful demonstration.
