Orphans at the Dodowa Rising Star Home are calling on the government, corporate bodies and philanthropists to support them with housing facilities.
According to them, currently, about 55 of them sleep in an old single room built in 1824.
They said the overcrowding causes easy spread of diseases among them.

The orphans made the appeal during a donation ceremony by the YPG of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Victory Congregation, Kwashie-Bu, to the orphanage.
“Our rooms are too small to accommodate us. We are really suffering here. We wish the government and other philanthropists come to support us get a better place to stay,” they added.
Supervisor of the Dodowa Rising Star Home, Victoria Sampson, popularly known as Aunty Baby, thanked the donors for their kind gesture.
She added that the overcrowding situation in the Home makes it difficult to accept more vulnerable children.

She said “we thank the church for this support. We hope others also come in to help us complete our new building to enable us provide accommodation to other vulnerable children on the street.”

Meanwhile, President of the YPG, Anthoinet Atitse explained the motive behind the donation and called on others to emulate their example.
“We were motivated by God and we wish other young ones learn the act of giving,” she urged.
