Police in Kpandai in the Northern region have arrested a 22-year-old man, Yaw Pangah for kidnapping a 5-year-old girl.
According to reports, one Malik Cholu, a native of Kpandai accosted the suspect who lives at Buya village after tried stealing the young girl whose name was only given as Yaa Baby.
The Kpandai District Police Commander, DSP Francis Akwasi Asante who confirmed the arrest to Adom News said, residents brought the suspect to them after the failed kidnap.
He said the suspect tried kidnapping the 5-year-old pupil of Richard Excellence Academy around Kpandai dam when she was looking for her mother.
DSP Akwasi Asante said, when the suspect saw the victim, he hid behind a palm tree and attempted to drag her through a bush but luck eluded him when after residents became alarmed of his conduct.
When suspect was interrogated, he said he wanted the little girl to lead him to Luseni village, which was not on that route.
They therefore alerted the police leading to his arrest.
DSP Francis Akwasi Asante added that, Yaw Pangah is currently at Kpandai police custody assisting in investigations.
