PHOTO: Ringleader of Tamale Hospital CEO attackers arrested

Police in the Northern region have arrested a member of the governing NPP, Baba Alhassan, for being the brain behind the attacks on the Tamale Teaching Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO), David Zaawumya Akolbila.

Dr Akolbila, was on Monday chased out allegedly by members of NPP vigilante group Kandahar Boys who accuse him of misappropriation of funds among others.

The arrest comes barely 24 hours after four persons were arrested and later released.

Baba Alhassan, in an interview with the media after the attack, vowed to repeat it if an incompetent person is appointed by President Akufo-Addo.

I swear heaven and earth we will come back and attack that any person who is not correct but will be appointed by the President” he opined.

But Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, DSP Mohammed Yussif Tanko said the braggart was picked up in his house Thursday morning.

He indicated that Baba Alhassan who has been cautioned by investigators is assisting police with investigations.

DSP Yussif Tanko said he is likely to be charged with assault, offensive conduct and unlawful entry.

Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for the other perpetrators of the act.
