A 42-year-old man on Sunday drowned in one of the dams of the one-village one-dam project at Tatindo, a farming community in the Tatale – Sanguli district of the Northern region.

According to the Assemblyman for the area, Nyimagnun Wumborijah, the deceased was found dead in the dam after he visited a nearby village.

“Some children swimming in the water saw him drowning and quickly rushed to call adults but after an hour search for him, we found him dead,” he said in an interview with Adom News.

Meanwhile, some residents, who spoke to Adom News, disclosed that his death brings the number to three, people who have lost their lives in the area over the dam construction.

“We told the contractor the location of the dam will endanger lives because of its closeness to our popular road we travel on to nearby villages but he never listened,” a resident said.

Meanwhile, the body has been given to the family for burial according to the customs of Islam.
