The Ofaakor District Police Command of the Awutu Senya East district in the Central Region has arrested a 24-year-old man identified as Michael Essiamah for kidnapping two kids aged 5 and 7 at Congo villa a suburb of Kasoa.
According to sources, Michael who is a family friend to the kids took the children out under the pretext of taking them to a barbering shop but never returned.
He subsequently demanded a ransom of GHC3,000.00 as a precondition for the children’s release.

He was given a part payment of GHC1,500.00 before the release of the first child and another GHC1,200.00 for the second.
The arrest was made at Prampram in the Shai Osuduku district in the Greater Accra Region after the 7-year-old upon his release, directed the police to a lady whom Michael took them to.
The lady subsequently took the police to Michael’s hideout.

The Ofaakor District Police commander, DSP Christopher Dakey, confirmed the incident to Adom News.
“We called Michael to know the whereabouts of the kids and he told us he will bring the kids only when the money is paid and we urged the parents to pay the money to him. He is, however, going to face a lawsuit” he said.
