A Ghanaian Philosopher, Mr. Ernest Bermeh, has predicted the demise of many churches in the Africa soon as the populace becomes more enlightened.
The man who also goes by the name, Dr. Think Twice says the demise of these churches will stem out of the consciousness of the citizenry whom he says are becoming aware that most of these churches have nothing to offer except to exploit their fears.
“Society is the church and the church is society and as the society grows, the people will come to the realization that the church is only exploiting our fear and that is where they will begin go withdraw from the church”, he noted.
He described the reason for which people go to church in Africa as “over spiritualism” which include the quest for jobs, marriage and other social and emotional needs, noting that soon, the people will realize that the reasons for which they don’t possess these things are not spiritual and they will begin to withdraw from the church.

Dr. Think Twice was speaking on Adom FM’s flagship programme, Dwaso Nsem with host Kofi Adoma Nwanwani on Tuesday.
“In some few years to come, churches in Ghana, churches in Africa who claim they are serving God will collapse; a huge percentage, over 90 percent will collapse” he predicted.
The man who says he needs no statistics to make his predictions said: “I am a philosopher and philosophers look at things the way they should be; we pick things, look at them in reality and say it as it is,” he said”.
He said it is the high interdependency ratio in Africa that forces people into marriages in Africa, therefore if these factors are no longer present, the essence of marriage, for instance, will be removed and people will no longer see singleness as a spiritual problem because they will be able to fend for themselves.
