'Only Pharisees and hypocrites will condemn Ayisi-Boateng'

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and former Trades Minister, Ekwow Spio Grabrah as ‘hypocrites’ with ‘low credibility’.
According to Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the two and all other NDC members condemning Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa for making comments termed as ‘divisive’ fall within this category.
“The likes of Spio Garbrah and Okudzeto Ablakwa and those NDC guys condemning him have low are hypocrites and Pharisees with low credibility…,” Chairman Wontumi said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Programme on Tuesday.
George Ayisi-Boateng while addressing Tertiary Students’ Confederacy Network (TESCON) in Kumasi made the comments which many have termed as very unfortunate.
Mr. Ayisi-Boateng told the students that, they are his priority in his dealings while at his duty post and that, it is by dint of the hard work party loyalists put in, that saw the party recapture power so it will be the right thing to do.
The High Commissioner urged other government appointees to do same. The comments have provoked public outrage and condemnation.
While many, including the minority, are calling for his sacking, Mr. Ayisi-Boateng remains resolute about his pronouncements.
“When NDC won power in 2009 and were chasing National Health Insurance and school feeding (officers), what did President Mills say? I remember that President Mills said he has directed MCEs and DCEs to see to the welfare of NDC footsoldiers…compare that to my comment, which one is too divisive?” Mr Ayisi-Boateng questioned on Nhyira FM.
Commenting on this, Chairman Wontumi said the High Commissioner deserves to be celebrated instead of being condemned as he made the comments in a context.
“I also believe NPP first just like Americans say Ghana first, Ayisi-Boateng is only commissioner but in the case of NDC, we had a President making those comments…if Atta Mills said it and they celebrated him, I also endorse what Ayisi Boateng said…,” Chairman Wontumi said.
He further challenged ‘hypocrite and Pharisee’ Okudzeto and Spio Garbrah to keep quiet as they celebrated the late Mills after he made similar comments.
