WBO Africa Super Welterweight champion, Patrick Allotey, has finally been arrested by Ministries police for assaulting a football fan.
The boxer on Sunday assaulted a Kotoko fan at the Accra Sports Stadium during the super clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
Mr Allotey was captured on tape delivering three quick stiff jabs to the face of the fan, who has been identified as Michael Siaw.
The fan sustained a gash under his left eye which had to be stitched.
A member of Asante Kotoko Circles group, Kwadwo Asante confirmed Mr Allotey’s arrest to Asempa FM.
“I can confirm that the Ministries police station has arrested Patrick Allotey.
“He has been referred to the Regional police headquarters in Accra for interrogation.
“He has been in police custody since yesterday and we are expected to hear from the police,” he added.
Mr Allotey will face the Ghana Boxing Association on February 5.
He could lose his boxing license as part of sanctions from Ghana Boxing Authority and other global boxing organisations.
