Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as “Mama G,” has received an honorary doctorate degree in Theatre and Media Arts from the Achievers Network Academy in the United Kingdom.
The 66-year-old actress was honored for her decades-long contributions to Nollywood and African cinema.
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) presented the award in a ceremony on Saturday, which also celebrated Yoruba actors Adebayo Salami and Jide Kosoko for their legendary roles in the industry.
Sharing her excitement on Instagram, Ozokwor expressed gratitude, saying, “Today was like a movie. Honorary Doctorate Degree. Thank you, UNILAG. Thank you.”
Patience Ozokwor, a trailblazer in Nollywood, began her career as a radio announcer before rising to fame in the 1999 film Authority.
With over 100 movies to her credit, her standout performances include classics like Ukwa (2001), Blood Sister (2003), and Billionaires Club (2003).
