Pastor banished from Bechem over fake prophesy

The head pastor of Devine Faith Prayer Ministry, Prophet Emmanuel Osei, has been banished from Bechem in the Brong Ahafo region for creating fear and panic in the town.

Prophet Emmanuel Osei is alleged to have littered the main junction of of the Bechem town with dead doves, crows and vultures with red bands around their necks.

The unwelcome spectacle that greeted the town folks last Wednesday also saw the birds wearing cowries and rings on their legs just to ensure Prophet Osei’s prophecy that witches were going to have a meeting at Bechem comes to pass.

Berimaba Yusif Abubakari, a reporter of local radio station, After 2 FM, who broke the news on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem said Prophet Osei had said on another radio station before the bizarre incident that he would kill the witches who would come in the form of birds.

As result of that prophecy and the subsequent littering of the town with those birds, the youth in the area petitioned the chief to banish the pastor for bringing the name of the town into disrepute.

As an immediate measure, the Chief of Nana Ofosu Gyeabour Akoto II says they have banished the so called prophet.

In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem on Friday, the chief said the prophet admitted to killing to birds just to prove that he is indeed a man of God.

He said the prophet was also fined to pay 12 goats, some amount of money and one box of schnapps to pacify the gods.

The chief said he had dispatched some youth to the church of the prophet to ensure that he left the town as directed.

But in a rebuttal, Prophet Emmanuel Osei, has denied all the allegations leveled against him.

He said the accusation was a grand scheme by a rival pastor who has connived with his detractors to destroy him.

“I’m not surprised they are blaming me for this incident. It is true I prophesied about the incident but I did not put the birds there.  I know one pastor in this town is behind this”, he alleged.

The Devine Faith Prayer Ministry pastor said though he managed to pay GH₵400 of the fine, it does not mean he has accepted the blame.

“I did that out of respect for the chief of Bechem but for what they have done, anyone who spends that money will be cursed”, he fumed.

Prophet Osei said he has moved to Kumasi to prevent the youth from lynching him for a crime he has not committed.

“The youth stormed my church, assaulted by pastors, destroyed my instrument, chairs and stole my offering.  I have moved to Kumasi to save my life”, he indicated.
