-

The Acting Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, has summoned Members of Parliament (MPs) for the first sitting of the First Meeting of the Ninth Parliament.

In an official notice, the Acting Clerk announced that the session will convene at 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Parliament House in Accra.

The agenda for the sitting includes the election of a Speaker and Deputy Speakers and the administration of oaths to the Speaker and MPs of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

The summons, issued under the authority of Article 124 of the Constitution and Order 8(2) of the Standing Orders of Parliament, marks a critical constitutional process as the Ninth Parliament begins its legislative duties.

MPs are expected to attend this inaugural sitting to fulfill their constitutional obligations and formally commence parliamentary proceedings for the term.
