Parliament brouhaha: Pull back from the brink – Prof. Kwesi Aning warns MPs

-

Security expert Prof. Kwesi Aning has urged Members of Parliament to prioritize their duty to serve the people of Ghana.

He warned them against pursuing personal interests amid rising tensions between the NDC and NPP over who controls the majority side in Parliament.

In an interview with TV3 on October 22, 2024, Prof. Aning called for responsible leadership and peace, especially as the nation nears its next election.

He encouraged MPs from both parties to reflect on their reasons for entering politics and to consider the long-term effects of their actions on the country’s future.

“When you allow things to spiral out of control, you won’t escape unscathed. Think about yourselves, your children, and your grandchildren. None of us will survive if this situation worsens,” he warned.

“We have very little time to pull back from the brink, and this afternoon will test our collective maturity and our love for this country,” Prof. Aning added, urging MPs to demonstrate leadership and sacrifice for the good of Ghana.

He concluded by stressing the importance of a peaceful approach to the upcoming election, saying, “These are dangerous times, and we must act with maturity and love for the country.”
