The Parliament of Ghana has affirmed its commitment to ensuring a smooth transition of power as preparations for the dissolution of the 8th Parliament and the inauguration of the 9th Parliament near completion.
The Planning Committee responsible for the transition briefed journalists today, assuring Ghanaians of a peaceful and seamless democratic process.
The dissolution of the 8th Parliament is set for Monday, January 6, 2025, with the newly elected Members of the 9th Parliament scheduled to convene at 11:00 PM to elect a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers.
Deputy Coordinator for the Dissolution and Inauguration Committee, Camillo Pwamang, addressed the media, emphasizing the readiness of the team to oversee a smooth exercise.
The Chairperson of the Planning Committee, Gifty Twum Ampofo, also outlined key activities planned for the transition, reinforcing the commitment to a peaceful power transfer.
Following the speakers’ election, the official inauguration will take place.
