Reigning Ghana Premier League champions, FC Samartex, on Wednesday, July 24 presented their trophy to the leadership of Parliament.
Under the guidance of head coach Nurudeen Amadu, FC Samartex secured the title for the 2023/24 season. As a result, they will represent Ghana in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League.
The delegation to Parliament was headed by the Paramount Chief of the Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II, alongside Club President Dr. Richard Duah Nsenkyire and Hon. Eric Afful, MP for Wassa Amenfi West.
They were joined by other club officials, including General Manager Edmund Ackah and Business Development Manager Paul Kwasi Anyaba.
During the visit, Dr Nsenkyire presented replica jerseys and other club memorabilia to the Parliament leadership.
The team conveyed their immense pride and gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their trophy to Ghana’s legislative body.
Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin extended his congratulations to FC Samartex on behalf of the Members of Parliament.
He praised their historic achievement and assured them of his full support as they prepare for the upcoming CAF Champions League.
Currently, FC Samartex is in pre-season training in the Eastern Region and will face Cameroonian team Victoria United in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on August 16 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium before the return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 23.
