Parliament has approved an amount of GH₵68,134,674,527 as expenditure in advance of appropriation for the first quarter of 2025.
The approval follows the Finance Minister’s presentation of the mini-budget, with an estimated GH¢16.4 billion earmarked for salaries and GH¢20.69 billion allocated for interest payments.
The joint committee of Finance and Budget scrutinized the mini-budget before presenting it to the plenary for adoption.
Chairman of the Budget Committee and MP for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, led the discussion, supported by Patrick Yaw Boamah, Chairman of the Finance Committee and MP for Okaikoi Central.
Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, put the question for adoption, and the House approved the report.
This budget will facilitate the government’s operations, including public sector salaries, interest obligations, and key national programs, until the full 2025 budget is presented by the incoming administration.
