Reacting to the announcement, however, Mr Obiri-Boahen said Mr Mahama staging a comeback is not a political threat to the NPP adding that it is a cause for joy for Akufo-Addo and the NPP.
“NPP shouldn’t panic or shake at all because Mahama is coming back. The NPP as a party with Nana Addo is doing well, honestly. There may be one or two mistakes somewhere because it is a human institution. Now that Mahama is coming as NDC flag bearer, I don’t think that the NPP should be distracted at all,” he said on Accra-based Okay FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

Mahama, formally declaring his intentions to contest said: “In coming to this firm decision, I have pondered deeply and soberly on the socio-economic and political landscape of our country today vis-à-vis the clear path we have started to build, aimed at positioning Ghana as a true middle-income country by modernising our dilapidated social and economic infrastructure and gradually inculcating in the Ghanaian, a sense of patriotism, self-belief and commitment to a one-Ghana agendum.”
