PAC orders arrest of Northern Regional NSA Director for squandering GH¢160K

-

The Public Accounts Committee has directed that, the Northern Regional Director and Accountant of the National Sports Authority are arrested for allegedly squandering more than 160,000 cedis belonging to the Authority.

The 2022 Auditor General’s report cites the Northern Regional Management of the Sports Authority for spending the money in contravention of the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019.

The visibly furious chairman of the Committee, was also not happy that the two officials had refused to honor the invitation of the Committee.

“We are directing that the regional director and accountant of the region should be picked up immediately by the police. You were invited to appear before Parliament, and you refused, knowing very well that you had squandered over GH¢160,000 and you thought you would go scout free.” he said.

Meanwhile, Vice Chair of the Committee, Samuel Atta Mills also said there’s a major rot at the NSA after some officials wrote off debts without authority.
