Coach Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin has expressed his contentment with Asante Kotoko’s performance against WAFA in week one of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League.
WAFA, after just three minutes of play drew first blood when sensational Aminu Mohammed sent goal keeper Felix Annan the other way with an excellent free-kick from the edge of the box only for the Porcupine Warriors to respond 15 minutes later through striker Yakubu Mohammed.
Addressing the press after the game, the former Black Starlets trainer said the result was a true reflection of the game but believes his side could have carried the day if they showed more purpose upfront.
“It was a very good game. WAFA still have a very good team despite losing the key ones after last season, they played well and we also gave them a good fight. Even though we drew we are happy with the result, we’ll go back and work harder to win our subsequent games.”
“Fortunately for me I’ve not lost a game here before. I led inter Allies to draw here and also Berekum Arsenal, so when I was coming here I was very confident we’re going to take the three points. Our attack was a little bit slow and that cost us the win.”
Coach Paa Kwesi Fabian took over Asante Kotoko after British trainer Steven Pollack was sacked following his failure to lead the club past the qualifying round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
