Oyoko family rejects destoolment of Abadwumhene

-

The Oyoko family in Abadwum has opposed the destoolment of the Abadwumhene, Professor Amoako Tuffour, by the Edubiasehene, Oguahyia Oduro Panin Birikorang, citing a lack of justification for the action.

This opposition was made public during a press conference organized by the Oyoko family in Abadwum, located in the Adansi North district of the Ashanti Region.

The family made it clear that they would not recognize the destoolment of the Abadwumhene, Nana Prof. Amoako Tuffour, by the Edubiasehene, both now and in the future.

Speaking to Adom News correspondent Isaac K. Normanyo at the press conference, Kwabena Nyarko Abronoma, a member of the Oyoko royal family, stated that the Edubiasehene lacks the authority to destool the Abadwumhene, Nana Prof. Amoako Tuffour, because the two are autonomous.

He explained that, the Edubiasehene only supervised the enstoolment of the Abadwumhene because there was no chief or queen mother in their community at the time.

However, he clarified that the Asantehene instructed the Edubiasehene to oversee Abadwum on his behalf.

Kwabena Nyarko further mentioned that although the Edubiasehene is responsible for leading a sub-chief of Abadwum to the Asantehene, he has failed to do so for Professor Nana Amoako Tuffour due to alleged ulterior motives.

The Oyoko family asserted that the only person with the authority to destool the Abadwum chief is the Asantehene.

They stressed their support for Professor Nana Tuffour, citing his contributions to the community, such as the construction of a 40-seater W/C toilet facility for the town, a 20-seater facility for the school in Abadwum, five mechanized boreholes, and a palace.

Nana Asare Bedieko, the Abadwum Akwamuhene, expressed shock upon hearing in the media that the Edubiasehene had destooled the Abadwumhene, Nana Prof. Amoako Tuffour.

He outrightly rejected this claim, alleging that it stemmed from the Abadwumhene’s resistance to a corrupt act proposed by the Edubiasehene.

Nana Asare Bedieko concluded that the Abadwum elders have the absolute right to announce the destoolment of their chief, but they were unaware of any such decision.

Therefore, he urged the public to disregard the news circulating about the destoolment of the Abadwumhene.
