In a significant boost to make farming more attractive, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has distributed fertilizers, ammonia, urea, and improved seeds to over 600 farmers in Nkwanta South, Oti Region.

This distribution is part of the government’s Planting for Food and Jobs Phase II initiative.

This program, aimed at enhancing food production and ensuring food security, underscores the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Felix Owusu-Gyimah, emphasized the initiative’s importance.

According to him, the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative is a cornerstone of the government’s agricultural policy, designed to increase food production and create jobs in the sector.

By providing essential inputs like fertilizers and improved seeds, the government aims to boost food production, create jobs, and enhance farmers’ livelihoods.

He urged farmers to fully utilize the resources provided, noting that the inputs would significantly improve crop yields and overall productivity.

Farmers present at the event expressed their heartfelt gratitude to President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia for the support.

In an interview with Adom News, they shared that, given the rising costs of inputs, they were concerned about managing their farms this season. The assistance has come at a crucial time for them.

Many farmers said access to these free inputs would significantly reduce their production costs and increase their yields.
