Over 40,000 teachers have been employed under Free SHS – John Boadu

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, says the government has employed over 40,000 teachers under the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

According to him, the introduction of the double-track system employed an additional 10,000 teachers to aid in quality education.

He further said the free SHS policy has seen an increase in enrollment from 2016 to 2019.

“Because of the double-track system we employed an additional 10,000 teachers. When the Free SHS wasn’t introduced about 80,000 students weren’t in school, just by introducing it enrollment shot up with 27,000 students enrolling from 2016 to 2019,” he told Accra based Okay FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

He added that the introduction of the Free SHS by the government was an initiative to increase quality, equitable education for all and also to improve on the country’s human capital.
