Outrage as gospel singer accused of murdering lover pleads not guilty in court

-

Gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi, who is accused of murdering his girlfriend, has sparked public outrage after pleading not guilty to charges of culpable homicide, punishable by death.

Ajayi appeared before Judge Simon Aboki on Monday, facing accusations of murdering his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu.

The case has drawn widespread attention since Ajayi’s arrest on January 12 in Nasarawa, where authorities reportedly discovered Adaidu’s severed head in a polythene bag.

Adaidu was last seen alive visiting Ajayi’s residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa.

Police reports allege that Ajayi confessed during interrogation, claiming he killed Adaidu in a fit of rage after discovering she had been unfaithful.

According to his confession, he acted impulsively after finding messages from other men on Adaidu’s phone and confronting her about it. He decapitated her and severed her body into over 25 parts.

Despite his earlier admission, Ajayi pleaded not guilty in court, leading to widespread criticism.

Salome Adaidu, who was laid to rest on January 14, has since become a symbol of outrage against domestic violence.

The case continues as the public awaits further developments in the trial.
