Otto Addo reacts to galamsey menace during Black Stars squad announcement

-

Ghana coach, Otto Addo, has reacted to the damage caused by illegal mining, known as galamsey, to the country’s water bodies as a significant concern.

In recent weeks, citizens, organizations have taken to the streets of Accra to demand that the government impose a complete ban on all mining activities.

While announcing the Black Stars squad for their upcoming doubleheader against Sudan, Addo was questioned about the galamsey issue.

“You know, there are a lot of things that have also distracted me; maybe I’ve questioned myself as well, asking what I could have done better. If let’s say, I have an accident, there’s nothing I can do about it.

“But, you know, there are other distractions within the team, and for us, to be honest, it’s about focusing on Sudan and nothing else. After we win, then we can talk about every other topic,” he added.

The Black Stars are set to face Sudan on October 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the return leg scheduled for October 15 in Libya.

Currently in third place in their group with just one point, the Black Stars are eager to claim all six points from these matches to enhance their chances of qualifying for AFCON 2025 in Morocco.

Addo and his team will commence their training camp in Accra on Monday.
