Otto Addo praises Desmond Ofei’s impact in Black Stars setup

-

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has lauded his assistant, Desmond Ofei, for his contributions to the team, describing him as highly supportive.

Ofei, a Belgian tactician, recently joined the senior national team setup as Ghana prepares for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

His appointment follows the dismissal of Joseph Laumann, who was relieved of his duties after the Black Stars failed to secure a spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Speaking to 3Sports, Addo praised Ofei’s work, particularly with the U-20 team, the Black Satellites.

“Desmond has done a very good job with the under-20s,” he said.

“He’s bringing in his experience and working with national teams. But I think it’s also a good quality, tactical and technical-wise. He’s very, very supportive,” he added.

Ofei’s first task with the Black Stars will be assisting Addo in their upcoming World Cup qualifying matches.

Ghana is set to face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday before traveling to Morocco to take on Madagascar on Monday, March 24.
