Otto Addo has emphasized the need for the Black Stars to secure victories in their upcoming qualifiers to keep their 2026 FIFA World Cup hopes alive.
Ghana, a four-time African champion, is set to regroup later this month for crucial Matchday 5 and 6 encounters against Chad and Madagascar in the qualifiers.
Following a disappointing run in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, where the team failed to secure a win, Otto Addo visited the Ga Mantse on Wednesday, March 12, to seek support. He highlighted the urgency of positive results to secure Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance.
“We came to seek your support and guidance,” the 49-year-old stated.
“We have difficult matches ahead of us, and the country needs urgent victories to qualify for the World Cup. For that, I believe we need to support ourselves, especially the Ga chiefs and the entire people, so that everybody can be happy,” he added.
The Black Stars currently sit joint top of Group I alongside Comoros with nine points, having secured back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) in their previous qualifiers.
Ghana will face Chad on Friday, March 21, at 19:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium before traveling to Morocco to play Madagascar at the Grand Stade d’Al Hoceima on Monday, March 24.
