Otto Addo breaks silence on Baba Yara Stadium ban [Audio]

-

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed his disappointment over the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to ban Baba Yara Stadium.

The stadium, which has traditionally hosted Black Stars games, has been deemed unfit for use due to its poor condition.

This ban follows Ghana’s 1-0 loss to Angola in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

As a result, the Black Stars are expected to play their remaining qualifying matches abroad.

Addo voiced his frustration during the CAF Coaches Symposium in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on Thursday.

Angola’s coach, Pedro Goncalves, also criticized the poor quality of the pitch despite his team’s victory.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face Sudan in a doubleheader in October, with the first match on October 7 at a yet-to-be-confirmed venue, followed by the return leg at Al-Merrikh Stadium on October 15.
