On his familiarization visit to the Nkwanta North District, Oti Regional Minister John Gyapong Kudjo assured the chiefs and people of his commitment to the area’s development.
The visit, aimed at assessing the district’s needs and challenges, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving the living standards of residents.
Engaging with the chiefs and leaders of Nkwanta North, Mr. Gyapong emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and the people.
He highlighted several key areas requiring urgent attention, including the long-awaited completion of the Nkwanta-Kpassa road and the Agenda 111 hospital project initiated by the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
He stressed that the Nkwanta-Kpassa road, part of the Eastern Corridor, has been a longstanding concern for residents. Connecting the two towns, he noted, will significantly boost economic activities and facilitate easier movement of goods.
In addition to the road project, the minister also addressed the need for improved healthcare services, pledging to complete the construction of a district hospital in Kpassa to ensure quality healthcare is accessible to all.
Mr. Gyapong also took the opportunity to address concerns about purported audio recordings in which he was allegedly heard marginalizing the Konkomba people regarding the District and Municipal Chief Executive (MDCE) position.
He refuted the claims, stating that he has a good relationship with the Konkomba people and will continue working closely with them to ensure equitable development.
He further called for unity among the people of Nkwanta North, urging them to work together toward common goals, emphasizing that development is a collective effort requiring everyone’s contribution.
Ubor Konja Tassan VI, the Kpassa chief, and other traditional leaders expressed their gratitude for the minister’s visit and commitment to the district’s development.
The chief reiterated their readiness to collaborate with the government to ensure the needs of the area are met.
