Outgoing Oti Regional Minister, DSP (Rtd) Daniel Machator, hosted a grand dinner for over 400 senior citizens in Nkwanta South Municipality on New Year’s Day.

The event celebrated the invaluable contributions of the elderly while promoting peace and togetherness in the community.

The minister used the occasion to address the pressing need for harmony in Nkwanta, especially in light of recent conflicts that have hindered the area’s development.

He emphasized that peace is a cornerstone of progress and urged residents to work together to create a secure and prosperous environment.

Highlighting the event’s personal touch, DSP (Rtd) Machator honored deserving individuals, including his former Class 3 teacher, Madam Cecilia Addae Mensah.

Awards such as 32-inch televisions and hampers were presented as tokens of appreciation for their contributions to education and community development.

The senior citizens expressed gratitude for the initiative, which they believe is a step toward fostering unity in the community.

They also voiced concerns about rising crime and violence in the area, urging leaders to prioritize security to restore Nkwanta’s once vibrant and peaceful atmosphere.

The New Year celebration underscored the importance of collaboration and the role of the elderly in shaping a future of hope and progress for Nkwanta and its generations to come.
