As part of efforts to improve maternal healthcare in the Oti Region, Regional Minister John Kwadwo Gyapong has commissioned two modern maternity facilities in Krachi Nchumuru.

The facilities, located at Wonrenja and Borae-Nkwanta, were constructed using the Krachi Nchumuru District Assembly Common Fund to enhance access to quality maternal and child health services for the local population.

During a familiarization visit to Krachi Nchumuru, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure across the region.

He also engaged staff of the district assembly, urging them to continue working towards improving the lives of residents.

He noted that the establishment of these maternity facilities is part of a broader initiative to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, ensuring that every woman has access to safe and reliable healthcare during pregnancy and childbirth.

The two facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and staffed by trained healthcare professionals. According to the minister, this development is expected to alleviate the burden on expectant mothers and provide them with the necessary care and support.

He urged residents to take ownership of the facilities and ensure their proper maintenance, stating, “It is not just about building these facilities; it is about ensuring they are well-maintained and utilized to their full potential.”

The commissioning of the maternity facilities has been met with enthusiasm, with many residents expressing gratitude for the government’s efforts to improve healthcare access.

They believe the facilities will significantly reduce challenges faced by pregnant women, allowing them to receive timely and adequate care.
