Osu Kingmakers reject Ishmael Nortey Adumuah’s nomination to Korle Klottey Assembly Council

-

Osu Kinkawe Dzaase, the traditional authority responsible for selecting and installing chiefs in Osu, has expressed its opposition to the shortlisting of Ishmael Nortey Adumuah (a.k.a. Oshiahene) to serve on a council at the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly.

The traditional authority stated that Nii Nortey was installed but subsequently suspended due to acts of subversion he allegedly committed against the Osu Kinkawe Dzaase and the Osu Stool.

These concerns were raised in a petition signed by the Dzaasetse, Nii Saban Atsen VII, and addressed to the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

The petitioners described Ishmael Nortey Adumuah as divisive, stating that he has created problems in all four quarters of the Osu Traditional Area.

“He is a party to all the Osu Chieftaincy Dispute Suits before the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs and the High Court, Accra. He is also a demagogue who is alleged to have created confusion all over the Osu Traditional Area,” portions of the petition read.

In this regard, the traditional authority has argued that Ishmael cannot serve the interests of the Osu Traditional Area at the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly.

The petition added that his appointment is likely to aggravate the situation in the Osu Traditional Area and should not be considered.

Meanwhile, they have recommended Nii Kwabena Bonne V, Osu Alata Mantse, or Nii Nortey Otututse II, Osu Ashante Dzaasetse, as recognized chiefs of the Osu Traditional Area who have been duly gazetted.
