OSP investigators questioning witnesses over Lydia Alhassan’s food distribution at polling station

-

Investigators from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) have begun questioning journalists and other individuals who witnessed Ayawaso West Wuogon MP Lydia Alhassan distributing food packs to voters during the special voting exercise.

The MP was spotted at the Legon Police Station handing out food to voters in the queue. Reports indicate that Electoral Commission officials and security personnel supervising the process were also beneficiaries of the food packs.

The incident has sparked outrage from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). Their Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency, John Dumelo, strongly condemned the action, describing it as inappropriate and potentially influencing voters.

In response to viral reports, the OSP dispatched investigators to the scene to gather information. Contact details of key witnesses, including journalists, were collected as part of the investigation into the alleged misconduct.

The investigation underscores the importance of adhering to electoral rules and ensuring fairness in the voting process.
