OSP acknowledges Ablakwa’s petition on $34m ambulance spare parts deal

-

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has received a petition by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu to probe contentious $34.9 million deal for ambulance spare parts approved by former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

Mr Ablakwa accused Mr. Ofori-Atta and former Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu of colluding with a private company, Service Ghana Auto Group Limited, to defraud the government.

He pointed out that, the former Finance Minister approved the deal just five days before leaving office, raising concerns about potential misconduct and questioning the newly formed company’s capacity to fulfil the contract.

The North Tongu MP on Monday, July 22, petitioned the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate an alleged shady ambulance spare parts procurement deal.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng in a letter dated July, 25 acknowledged receipt of the petition and stated that his office would investigate the matter if it falls within its jurisdiction.

The letter also assured Mr. Ablakwa that the office would seek further assistance if necessary.
