The Akyem Wenchi Hene and Oseawuohene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council, Daasebrɛ (Dr) Nyarko Asumadu Appiah, has raised concerns over rising drug abuse among the youth in his community, describing it as a major threat to its future.
Speaking at the outdooring ceremony of newly installed sub-chiefs, he criticized the police for failing to take decisive action and called for a mass transfer of personnel to bring fresh strategies in tackling the issue.
“The situation is dire, and we cannot sit back and watch our youth destroy their lives with drugs,” he stated, urging law enforcement to act swiftly.
His concerns reflect growing frustration among residents, who believe authorities have not done enough to address the crisis.
Meanwhile, Nana Gyimah Abaidoo, the newly installed Krontihene of Akyem Wenchi, pledged to promote education and encourage teachers to remain dedicated to their work. He also called for peace, emphasizing that development can only thrive in a stable environment.
